The Cardigans - Super Extra Gravity

If 'Long Gone Before Daylight' was a timeless, organic and mature album, 'Super Extra Gravity' is an unruly, spontaneous and obnoxious one. The strive for perfection and making a 'well-produced' album of timeless quality have been exchanged for a wilder, less predictable sound. Whether its relentless metal drumming, treated pianos or brutal bass sounds, there just isn't any song that sums up the album.

The first single to be taken from the album will be the cocky 'I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer' out 3rd October. Other highlights include; the sparse album opener 'Losing A Friend', 'In The Round' which showcases Magnus Svenningsson's indie and goth roots, 'Good Morning Joan' featuring a wall of guitars and the sad and beautiful 'Don't Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds)', about taking responsibility for you own life and not becoming a martyr. Nina admits this track is very close to her and that some distance will be needed for her to perform this live. "I really try to write about other things than complicated relationships but it's hopeless", sighs Nina. An exception to her description is 'Godspell', in which she takes a look at how religion can still be the opium of the masses.

Every listen of this new album reveals another gem. The Cardigans and Tore Johansson have succeeded in their aim: to make a beautifully deranged album that never ceases to surprise the listener.

A limited edition of the album with DVD featuring an hour long band documentary and demos will also be available. A UK tour early next year is currently being routed.
