  • simon f bakersimon f baker: ilikemusic because... you can transcend the confines of the material world with it, it's probably better than shagging in fact. There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.

The Best Of The Cardigans Album

With a career spanning 14 years and over six million albums sales worldwide, The Cardigans are one of Sweden's biggest musical exports. Now for the first time ever they release all of their hits on one album.

Best Of comprises 21 of the band's finest moments from their six studio albums including their breakthrough hit Lovefool alongside Erase/Rewind, My Favourite Game, Carnival and I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer.

The Cardigans (Nina Persson, Peter Svensson, Bengt Lagerberg, Magnus and Sveningsson and Lasse Johansson) had mainly Swedish support for their debut album Emmerdale, but their second album Life, released in 1995, made critics and music fans sit up around the world.

A year later they were propelled to international superstardom by their track Lovefool (from the album First Band On The Moon) which featured in Baz Luhrmann's blockbuster, Romeo + Juliet.

The band went on to have further international success with the significantly darker Gran Turismo (released in 1998) which spawned the hit singles Erase/Rewind and My Favourite Game, the latter coming complete with one of the most compelling pop promos of the Nineties, recipient of a million-plus plays on YouTube and counting.

Since then they have released two more acclaimed albums - Long Gone Before Daylight and Super Extra Gravity - alongside individual side projects.

Best Of encapsulates a career in which no one's foot has ever come off the control pedal. It brings together 21 gems from The Cardigans with a bonus limited edition double disc including b sides and rarities also available.

The 2008 remix of Erase/ Rewind by Kleerup (including Robyn) is also offered as a digital download.

The Cardigans release Best Of on Polydor Records on March 3rd, 2008
