The album sees the New Jersey band taking the awesome intensity of their live show and blending it with aggressive, yet infectious punk as well as darkly themed metal influences.
Produced by Howard Benson (T.S.O.L., Motorhead, P.O.D.), 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' crackles with fiery energy and raw abandon to create a work packed with memorable songs played with vitriol and passion.
The first single, 'I'm Not OK (I Promise)' (out September 13th), comes across like Jimmy Eat World with a dark side whilst other tracks vary in their approach, such as with the slow-burning anthem 'The Ghost Of You' and the melodic punk rush of 'Give 'Em Hell Kid'. The album features a guest in the form of Black Flag legend Greg Ginn who contributes backing vocals on three of the tracks.
Describing the album as "violent, unsafe pop music", vocalist Gerard Way recalls, "It started out as a complete concept album. But as we went on we realized that our own lives were getting mixed up in it, so we started writing ourselves into the story."
Having toured with the likes of The Used and Taking Back Sunday, the band are currently on the Warped Tour with bands such as Thursday, NOFX and Bad Religion.
They will tour the US this autumn with Story Of The Year and Lostprophets and will tour the UK this September, playing Manchester Academy 3 (11th), Glasgow King Tuts (12th), Birmingham Academy 2 (13th) and London Mean Fiddler (14th).
