Arcade Fire - Wake Up

Wake Up
Rough Trade 7" Etched Single/CD/DVD s286
Released 14th November 2005

'Wake Up' is the fourth single to be taken from Arcade Fire's astonishing debut album 'Funeral' which has now gone Gold in the UK and notched up over half a million sales world wide. Alongside sales, Arcade Fire have enjoyed some of the year's most favourable reviews, and all the indications are that Funeral will feature in many of the end of year polls.

Watch The Video

In between stealing the show at last year's CMJ, and then returning last month to play a triumphant, sold out, anniversary show in New York's Central Park, Arcade Fire have had an extraordinary year. After initially blowing away US press and critics with the US release of 'Funeral' they then saw tens of thousands of copies of their album exported across the Atlantic to Europe as word of them, and demand for their music began to spread like wildfire.

By the time the UK release of the album was arranged, all their debut shows were sold out, purely through word of mouth, before any ads were run. These first shows at King's College, ULU and later the Astoria, before the album was even released, were jammed with young, ecstatic fans singing the words to every song. In fact, every headline show the band has played this year has been sold out.

A series of Top 30 singles, most
recently, "Rebellion' which reached 19, and appearances on Later, TOTPs and The David Letterman Show, amongst others, followed.
Recently the band performed with David Bowie at the prestigious Fashion Rocks event in New York. They also proved a hard act to follow for Franz Ferdinand at a massive Open-Air show in Edinburgh and were the people's and critic's choice as the band of the Carling Reading/Leeds Festivals this year. Unanimously.

This Autumn Arcade Fire will be playing the Tim Festival in Brazil alongside The Strokes and playing some hometown shows with U2 before beginning work on their next album.
