Army of Freshmen formed in late 1997 in Ventura, California. Since then the energetic 6 piece rock band has earned the reputation of being one of the hardest working independent acts in the world, having played over 1,000 shows in 10 countries and 43 states and have over 1 million plays at Myspace. Above The Atmosphere is their 4th album and in keeping with their previous releases is a storming tour of the pop-punk genre, power-pop keyboards and so-cal vocal harmonies make for the sing-along album of the year.
The album was produced by Jay Ruston (Brian Wilson, Meatloaf) and includes co-writes and performances from Brendan Brown of Wheatus and Steve Klein of New Found Glory. The record also features guest appearances from Ben Pringle of The Rentals, Matt Nelson of Nelson and Russ Parrish of Steel Panther.
The band have performed on several major festivals and events including the Warped Tour in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, Japan's Summersonic Festival in 2003 alongside artists like Radiohead and Download Festival in 2007 and 2008 alongside Iron Maiden and Kiss, where, despite their being one of the only non- metal acts on the bill, the band's energetic live show drew a massive crowd to their stage and received glowing praise in the press including Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Big Cheese.
