Jo Whiley: ilikemusic because... It makes me laugh and it makes my cry and it gets me out of a stress if I’m in a stress, and, if I’m in a good place then it will make me in a better place. It’s all about the emotion, it’s all about the feeling where music takes you to and what affect it has on you.
Penguin: ilikemusic because... Music is the one thing that really connects people. In the words of The King Blues: music can bring the world together :)
Sarah Christine: ilikemusic because... Music is like a puzzle. Each peice by itself is unique and looks like no other puzzle peice, but when you put it all together, you expeirience a completely different picture. It's on an almost daily basis that I find myself getting lost in my music, and I love it!
pdog: ilikemusic because... it always makes me feel better
Josh Ritter: ilikemusic because... It’s like an envelope that I can carry around with me wherever I go and I can unfold the letter at anytime.
Sharleen Spiteri: ilikemusic because... it takes me to places that life can't
Rowan: ilikemusic because... it helps me chill out
BERNARD: ilikemusic because... IT MAKES ME RELAX GET ENJOYED AND HAVE A PIECE OF MIND AND FUN
O'Bailey: ilikemusic because... I can live vicariously through a song, whether it's a screaming angry rock anthem or a silly kids song ("I'm a little yellow fish" anyone?) haha!A new year brings a new sound and US rockers Flyleaf are ready to send rock pulsating through the veins of the masses as they unleash their edgy, power-house rock anthems.
Flyleaf's self-titled debut album came out January 14th through A+M/Octone Records with new single, I'm So Sick, out March 3rd. The album is produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Papa Roach, POD and The All-American Rejects). To support the release Flyleaf supported Korn on their UK tour this March 2008. Texas-bred quintet Flyleaf - vocalist/lyricist Lacey Mosley, guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann, bassist Pat Seals and drummer James Culpepper - have been winning over crowds with their brooding beats, atmospheric textures and lunging riffs, complemented by Mosley's emotionally-charged vocals, which range from breathy and beautiful to scathing and aggressive.
Their debut album is a roller coaster of emotions filled with songs about abuse, neglect, addiction, dysfunction, and overcoming adversity. Debut single 'I'm So Sick' (released March 3rd) kicks off the album with a moody bass line throbbing over a haunting ethereal vocal before guitars crash in like a rock through a plate-glass window, with the track see-sawing between rage and reflection.
Other notable tracks on the album include 'Cassie' with its layers of stop-start guitars atop an urgent backbeat which builds to an exultant chorus. 'All Around Me' augments a wall of power chords with evocative jazzy licks whilst 'Fully Alive' is a cinematic number with angry muted riffs.
Flyleaf's self-titled debut album has already shifted a million copies in the States, and with their tight-knit chemistry and memorable songs, this is one band who are set to have an amazing 2008.
