The Rolling Stones Headline Isle of Wight Festival

The Isle of Wight Festival 2007 will be the sixth festival since it's reincarnation in 2002. Over the last few years The Who, David Bowie, REM, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Faithless and The Prodigy have taken to the stage to headline what has fast become one of the most well loved and distinctive festivals on the map.

This year the best of both new and established artists take to the stage. Having played in the original 1970's festival alongside Jimi Hendrix, 1960's icon Donovan will make a welcome return this year. The Isle of Wight will also welcome the The Rolling Stones, for what will be their first UK festival appearance since 1976. The iconic band will make history as they perform their first ever headline UK festival appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival this year.

It all began with a series of festivals between 1968 and 1970, widely acknowledged as Europe's equivalent of Woodstock. In 1970 Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez, and the Moody Blues among others, played to over 600,000 people. Hendrix was the climax of a five-day music extravaganza, attracting a vast and varied free-spirited audience together with artists from all over the world.
