The Academy Is... - Fast Times At Barrington High
The Academy Is… return with their eagerly-anticipated third album Fast Times At Barrington High, released through Fuelled By Ramen Records. The band have also announced a UK tour for this autumn which kicks off in Cardiff on September 13 and includes a date at London's Islington Academy on September 17.
Recorded and produced in New York, Fast Times At Barrington High sees the band on sparkling form, delivering their unique brand of pop punk-driven rock 'n' roll with refreshing artistic dexterity. Forthcoming single About A Girl is a fitting example of the band's signature melodies, anthemic guitars and indelible hooks. As the follow-up to 2007's rapturously-received Santi, Fast Times At Barrington High sets The Academy Is… firmly in the premier ranks of today's American rock bands.
Since exploding onto the scene in 2006, the Chicago quintet have established a fervent and faithful following through on active online presence (the band's video podcast - TAITV, streamed through their website, is a fan's favourite), and good old-fashioned roadwork. Currently wowing crowds with their electrifying live show on the US coast-to-coast Vans Warped Tour, The Academy Is… have shared the stage with Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, All-American Rejects and Panic At The Disco, to name a few. Their September dates mark the band's first UK shows since their 2007 Reading/ Leeds Festival appearances, and performance at the Decaydance gig in London last year. Jun: ilikemusic because... music can convey a mood, enhance a mood or change a mood. Music can be used to inspire and the artform is simple yet complicated. It's fun to listen to and even more fun to create and perform. It speaks when just a simple word can't. It's a blessing!!
Lupe Fiasco: ilikemusic because... It gives me a chance to escape and reach people I wouldn’t ordinarily be able to reach. And without music the world would be kinda quiet.
