  • James BluntJames Blunt: ilikemusic because... conversation is so limited. It’s the best form of expression we have.
  • Ellen, Los CampesinosEllen, Los Campesinos: ilikemusic because... It’s the best form of escapism that you can have wherever you are. You could be completely miserable or waiting for a bus and put on any song that inspires you and you can escape into a little world, well that’s what I tend to do anyway.
  • DaveDave: ilikemusic because... Without it there wouldnt be a Global Gathering
  • lolololo: ilikemusic because... music is where some people display affection, show emotions and actually showing off who they are and their thinking. it is special unlike anything cos it goes out and never comes in back but in others.

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones performed a rare club show for some 1,000 fans at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto, Canada. They opened their set with Rough Justice, the lead single off their coming album, A Bigger Bang, which is set for release on 5 September.

As has become customary for the rock legends -- who have been rehearsing at Greenwood College in Toronto since mid-July -- the group fine-tuned their material with an intimate gig before the start of a world tour. They performed new material such as Back of my Hand and Oh No, Not You Again, but also played favourites like 19th Nervous Breakdown, Brown Sugar, Jumpin' Jack Flash and a cover of Bob Marley's Get up, Stand up.

The Bigger Bang world tour begins 21 August in Boston at Fenway Park and treks across North American until Christmas. The band will continue on to Mexico, South America, the Far East and finally Europe in the summer of 2006. Supports acts lined up include Joss Stone, Black Eyed Peas, Metallica, Maroon 5, Pearl Jam, Beck and more.

The club gig, which was rumoured since Monday night and confirmed 24 hours later, was partially seen as the band's way of saying thank you to Toronto -- their home away from home.

The Rolling Stones are Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood.
