U2 - Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own

U2: Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
7th February

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, the second single to be taken from U2's Number One album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, is out now. Released just before U2 performed the song at The Grammys and walked away with an award.

The video for 'Sometimes …' was shot in Dublin and is directed by long-time U2 collaborator Phil Joanou (Rattle & Hum, One, If God Will Send His Angels). Released on 7th February by Island Records, the accompanying clip sees Bono return to his (real) childhood bedroom on Cedarwood Road in the North Dublin suburbs.

Shot in black and white and colour, the action moves from the streets surrounding Bono's birthplace, past Sheriff Street and the post office where Bob worked, finishing at the city-centre Gaiety Theatre - in glorious colour - where Hewson senior trod the boards as part of local operatic society productions.

As Bono writes at the beginning of the video:-

My father Bob worked in the Post Office by day and sang opera by night.
We lived on the north side of Dublin in a place called Cedarwood Road.
