Corinne Bailey Rae - Trouble Sleeping

Corinne Bailey-Rae releases her luscious new single Trouble Sleeping on May 29th. Already hailed by critics as the brightest new star for 2006 upfront of release, Corinne's subsequent success has been astounding. 'Put Your Records On' crashed into the UK charts at number 2 in mid-February and at the time of writing is still in the Top 10 seven weeks later. It also spent three consecutive weeks at number 1 in the UK Airplay chart, and after twelve weeks is still at number 3. The single has also been a massive hit across Europe and further a field.

Corinne's album also achieved the feat of going straight into the chart at number one, the first British female ever to do so with a debut album of original compositions. Within a month it was certified double platinum and had also returned to the top spot for a second time. At the time of writing, the album is refusing to leave the Top 10 and has also been certified gold in Italy, Germany, New Zealand and beyond, selling well over a million worldwide. With such a lovely vocal and such brilliant songs, Corinne Bailey Rae is testament to great songs making a star. Long may her success continue.

Not bad for a hither-to unknown singer from Leeds.
