I Like Music Because heading
  • Leon Jean-MarieLeon Jean-Marie: ilikemusic because... It transcends. It really creates emotion with someone. That feeling it gives you, it goes through boundaries. To create something, it just breaks through all the walls. When you connect with a song, that is it, that is magic isn't it?

Funk Mode

Juliano Creator (that's Julian from the Creators to you and I) compiles one of the most unique and surprising compilations you're likely to hear this year. There aren't many compilations that can lay claim to a 'synth-funk-pop' blue print but this one seems to do it particularly well with a cheeky mix of wah wah guitar and starsky and hutch style synths.

With the release of Manilla-based outfit Black Busters 'Old Man' on a Scenario limited 7" back in 2004, Funk Mode takes us on a journey through the fattest of fat drum breaks to more unusual slices of mid tempo soul.

Armed with the Doors-esque strings of Billy and Friends' 'Ua Ua Rock' and the funky soul of Plus' 'Put Everything Together' (who coincidentally represent the original line-up from euro-funk supergroup El Chicles) this snappy compilation is sure to be one of the finest in its class this spring…
