Stone, who at only 19 years of age has already sold over 7 million albums worldwide, has spent the last year writing and recording the new album, calling it 'Introducing Joss Stone' because, in her words "this album is the first one that I feel truly represents who I am as an artist."
Lead single 'Tell Me 'Bout It' is a funky uptempo groove, laden with Stone's trademark soulful vocals with lyrics goading her man to step up to the plate. Produced by the album's chief collaborator, Raphael Saadiq (D'Angelo, Kelis, Lucy Pearl), it is a foretaste of a collection of songs that sees the maturing of an artist who took the world by storm when she burst onto the scene with 2003's 'Soul Sessions', followed by the equally successful 'Mind Body and Soul' album the following year.
The US were quick to sit up and take notice of her extraordinary talent and in her burgeoning career so far Stone has been nominated for 4 Grammy Awards and sung with legends including Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson to name a few. In the UK she won two Brit Awards in 2005 for Best female and Best Urban act.
'Introducing..' represents a clear evolution for Stone and has a more contemporary feel than her previous work. With tracks ranging from the Supremes-esque 'Girl, You Won't Believe It', to the blissed out 'Catch Me I'm Falling' and the classic ethereal 'Tell Me What Wešre Gonna Do Now', featuring Common, The album, which also features a guest appearance from Lauryn Hill, is surely Joss's most accomplished work to date.
The single 'Tell Me 'Bout It' is released digitally on 26th February and physically on 5th March through Relentless/EMI and the album 'Introducing Joss Stone' is out on 12th March. Stone will tour the UK later in the year and plays at the Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium on July 1st this year.
