KILLA KELA BIOGRAPHY / Secrets

Killa Kela releases his new single, Secrets on March 20, 2006 from the Elocution album.

Killa Kela says: 'I love that balance of hard-edged sounds, unapologetic in their impact and intensity, with something people can take away. That's the key to all good music. In the urban music that I've been bracketed in, the commercial edge - a good chorus, a good hook - it gets sidelined by peer pressure to sound tough or rap this way or sound American. Where really it should be about doing what you do and having a good hook and making a great sounding song. It's about that balance.'

Killa Kela lives and breathes and speaks hip hop. 27 now, he's been mad on it since he was a kid in Billingshurst, West Sussex. This is a guy who understands the building blocks of the music, the beats and pieces that make it up. That's how he crafts his tunes: bit by bit, step by step, all his own work and that of his crew.

You won't find a cheeky-pop or diggin'-in-the-crates old-gold sample airlifted into Kela's tunes to provide tune-relief. He does it all himself.
