Rachel Small: ilikemusic because... it make me feel alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The 23-year-old Lloyd recently parted ways with Irv Gotti and The Inc, and says he's looking forward to "life after Murder Inc". He has already released a new single, Pusha feat Lil Wayne, produced by The Runners, and is finalizing plans for his yet untitled fourth album. "We have plans to get in the studio with Jim Jonsin, The Runners, Cool & Dre, Rodney Jerkins and others," he says. Lloyd added that he is eager to break new ground and explore opportunities that will allow him to take his career to the next level and offer a vehicle for him to supply his fans with more great music. To that end, he has spent most of 2009 traveling abroad, staging performances and appearances in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
In addition to being a successful artist, Lloyd has also launched his own label, Young Goldie Music and prides himself on his community involvement, participating in campaigns to give back to his birth city of New Orleans by taking part in rapper David Banner's Heal the Hood Concert benefiting displaced Katrina victims. He donated 50 concert tickets to children from fellow heartthrob Usher's New Look Foundation, which helps create avenues for young people to enter the business side of sports and entertainment. He also travels to speak to kids across the country with producer and musical mentor Dallas Austin in support of the fellow Atlantan's new project that seeks to build recording studios in public schools.
With a successful recording career, business savvyness and a connection to the community, Lloyd is one young person on which youth has clearly not been wasted.
