Rihanna Retains Number One Spot

R&B singer Rihanna has retained her position at the top of the UK singles chart for the third week in a row with her Umbrella single, featuring Jay-Z. Rihanna pipped ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena">Mutya Buena to the post, whose debut solo single Real Girl rose from number nine to number two.

Beautiful Liar by Beyonce and Shakira remained strong at number three with Here In Your Arms by Hellogoodbye at number four and Maroon 5 at number five with their Makes Me Wonder single. While Gym Class Heroes were at number six with Cupid's Chokehold.

Calvin Harris's The Girls single was the only new entry in the top 10,entering at nine. OAP band The Zimmers saw their cover version of The Who's My Generation enter the charts at number 26 above Enrique Iglesias at number 28. The group were formed as part of a BBC documentary about elderly people, which explored feelings of isolation brought about by old age.

The Twang climbed to number eight with Either Way, while Reverend and The Maker's Heavyweight Champion of The World climbed from 38 to 12.

Meanwhile, in the album chart Maroon 5 kept their position at number one with It Won't Be Soon Before Long, as did Linkin Park at number two with Minutes To Midnight, and the highest new entry was while Wait For Me by the Pigeon Detectives entering at number three. Other new entries in the album chart included R Kelly at number 10 and Jeff Buckley, in at 16 with So Real
