S.Kay officially puts his stamp on the scene with Got The Beat, an eclectic mix of Bassline, Hip Hop & Dance. This up-tempo club banger is sure to be a refreshing change in the current climate of overhyped productions, displaying diversity at home. But we'll leave you to make your own judgement. S.Kay formed his own label and media outfit; Artistik who deal with both the music and video content, as well as web and graphic design, live events and fashion.
This songwriter, producer, performer was born and first schooled in Kenya where he learnt to play the drums. He then moved to London & finally Scotland, where he chose to begin pursuing his musical ambitions over the chance to study at Glasgow's School Of Art.
After a stint of DJing around Glasgow's bars and nightclubs spinning techno, funky house, hip hop and RnB S.Kay started writing his own material. His early compositions Push Em Up & It's Just Me caught the attention of local promoters who placed him on rosters alongside the likes of Tim Westwood, Busta Rhymes, Sunshine Anderson, Jamelia, DMX & Nas. Through these experiences he appeared at venues across the UK, including the Astoria, Carling Academy and Camden's Jazz Café.
During this progress S.Kay began looking at ways to develop his sound, flow & production. "I hate to be pigeon holed" he explains; "I like to write about what I'm feeling in the moment and have learnt to only record when the time is right" If a new genre
were born today S.Kay would not hesitate to embrace it - regardless of sound or style.
With this first single release from his album From The Outside Looking In - inspired by the concept of being self-aware, S.Kay is now looking to take the music of the Scottish Northbound scene to new audiences and make it count on an international level - Check it!
