cirKus - Fools
cirKus was born when producer DJ Karmil was persuaded by (Gorillaz collaborator) James Dring to come and work with him at the north London studio of Massive Attack collaborator Burt Ford (aka Booga Bear). Karmil and Ford then de-camped from London to the wilds of Sweden to co-found record label TENT Music and develop the project that would become cirKus.
Over the past two years cirKus have steadily built a large and loyal following playing shows in France, Spain, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Canada, Brazil, Morocco and even at a festival on an island in the Indian ocean called La Reunion.
When asked for detail of the other cirKus personnel besides himself & Burt Ford, Karmil becomes somewhat sketchy as it is, in his words, "got fuck all to do with the music".
To give you an idea of the sound, cirKus listeners on Last.FM also listened to: Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky, Sigur Ros, Cat Power, Antony & The Johnsons and Unkle.
The album 'Laylower' is released in July 2008 featuring the French only release 'Laylow' and a second CD of rerecorded songs heavily influenced by their live sound.
